Microblading or Semi Permanent Makeup

Microblading or Semi Permanent Makeup?

Microblading is a very popular method for achieving perfect eyebrows, but is it the best treatment for perfect brows? We see many advertisements for Microblading, and the term Microblading Semi Permanent Makeup is being used. This is somewhat misleading, as Microblading and Semi Permanent Makeup are different processes with different results.

Microblading

Microblading uses a handheld pen-like tool with a “blade” attached to cut the skin beneath the eyebrow and apply pigment. The blade is a line of fine needles dipped in pigment and drawn along the skin in a single hair stroke. The technician continues applying individual hair strokes of pigment until the eyebrow looks dense. The depth the pigment is implanted results from the pressure the technician applies. This is crucial to remember; too little pressure and the pigment will be expelled from the skin over weeks, too much pressure and the process becomes very painful, and there is a high risk of scarring.

Semi Permanent Makeup

Semi Permanent Makeup uses Micropigmentation to implant pigment into the skin. Micropigmentation uses a specialist machine and handpiece with a needle attached. The needle is dipped in the pigment and the micropigmentation machine vibrates the needle to accurately implant the pigment into the skin as a series of minute punch holes. The needle tip is adjustable so the depth of pigment can be controlled and correctly set, allowing the pigment to last for 2 to 3 years. Microblading relies on the technician’s ability to accurately apply the same pressure to implant the pigment at the correct depth. Semi-permanent makeup relies on the technician’s skill to set the needle depth correctly so the pigment implants into the skin correctly.

So which one to choose?

For the question of Microblading or Semi Permanent Makeup, we recommend micropigmentation and Semi Permanent Makeup. Semi Permanent Makeup can implant pigment at the exact and correct depth for the pigment to last in the skin for 2 to 3 years. Microblading is not as exact and relies heavily on the technician to apply the correct pressure level to each pigment stroke. If performed correctly, Microblading can last for a maximum of 6 months.

So for your next eyebrows treatment, choose the correct treatment, Microblading or Semi Permanent Makeup. Microblading lasts 6 months and Semi Permanent Makeup lasts 2 to 3 years. Don’t be fooled by some offering Microblading semi-permanent makeup; this is simply a way to confuse. The best way to check which treatment you are getting is to ask how it is performed. Microblading is performed with a blade scratching the skin and Semi Permanent Makeup uses a machine to vibrate a needle to punch holes in the skin.
