MCA Dry Needling for raised or indented scars

MCA Dry Needling is the go-to solution to improve the appearance of a scar and is especially effective on accident scars, operation scars or where there is mild to severe skin damage from burns. Most scars of this nature have caused significant skin damage and are, as a result, raised or indented (not flat).

With all scars, we start with a course of MCA Dry Needling. Using a needle (without pigment) stimulates the collagen beneath the scar, allowing the scar to relax and flatten. In most cases, this process re-pigments the scar naturally. If the scar is still visible, then a course of Scar Camouflage is required.

Scar Camouflage for flat scars

We perform Scar Camouflage (no MCA Dry Needling) to treat minor flat and smooth scars. The pigmentation of a scar is only effective when the scar is flat.

This procedure involves mixing pigment tones to match the surrounding skin and applying them to the scar’s surface. This blends the scar colour to match the surrounding skin tone.

Please note: To effectively add pigment to any scar, the scar must be flat. Therefore we will always start with an MCA Dry Needling treatment course if a scar is raised or indented.

Skin Patch Test (SPT) – Achieving the correct skin colour

Scar Camouflage requires a Skin Patch Test to test pigment colour match and how well pigment implants in the skin. A skin patch test is usually performed at the first appointment, so please book a 30-minute appointment.

MCA Dry Needling does not require a Skin Patch Test because we do not insert pigment; the needle is dry. Therefore, we can perform MCA on your first visit after the consultation. Treatment appointments are usually 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the scar size.

Aftercare – What to do post-treatment

Our Scar Removals Dubai process uses needles, which will cause slight irritation and swelling in the treatment area. There may also be redness; however, this will subside very quickly. We advise no contact with water or sweat for 72 hours after the Scar Removals Dubai treatment session. This allows the skin to heal in the 72 hours post-treatment.

Full aftercare instructions are provided after each treatment appointment. Please follow aftercare instructions carefully to ensure the best results.
