Semi Permanent Makeup FAQs – Our most frequently asked questions

Semi Permanent Makeup FAQs

Q: Who decides the shape and colour?

You do. There are many colours, and we usually recommend a mixed bespoke colour to compliment your natural skin tone for all our semi permanent makeup treatments. We always draw on the shape for your approval before applying the semi permanent pigment colour.

Q: Is Semi Permanent Makeup safe?

Yes. We follow the strictest standards of hygiene, health, and safety, the same standards as on Harley Street, London. We also helped develop local Dubai guidelines for semi permanent makeup treatments to align with standards used on Harley Street, London.

Q: Is the equipment used hygienic and sterile?

Yes. We only use pre-sterile, individually packed needles made in Germany. Each needle is used once and disposed of in a sharps box. The machine unit and handpiece are covered using medical-grade film that helps protect against microscopic blood spores and bacteria. The film is used once and disposed of after each client.

Q: Is the equipment used up to global standards?

Our micropigmentation machines are class 2A medical-grade certified, the highest available. It is the best and most comfortable machine on the market for all our specialist micropigmentation treatments, including semi permanent makeup, medical micropigmentation and hair and scalp micropigmentation.

Q: Is semi permanent makeup painful?

Some clients feel minor discomfort. Most women compare our eyebrow treatment to plucking eyebrows and feel slightly uncomfortable. Many clients think the years of looking great with perfect makeup and carefree results outweigh any momentary discomfort.

Q: How long is the treatment?

Treatment appointments are 30 to 60 minutes, consultations are 15 minutes, and Skin Patch Tests are around 30 minutes. A typical 60-minute treatment appointment consists of a 10 to 15-minute consultation and a 30 to 45-minute procedure with 5-minute aftercare instruction.

Q: Where are the procedures performed?

Our treatment appointments are performed at C37, Dubai Healthcare City, Al Razi Medical Complex (Building 64 ), Fourth floor.

Choosing the shape and look – Semi Permanent Makeup FAQs

We will discuss your requirements and advise on the correct shape. We then draw the shape with an eyebrow pencil. Points to consider when choosing your eyebrow shape are:

  • choosing pigment colours to replicate individual hairs along the eyebrow – an excellent solution for sparse, over-plucked or missing brows (eyebrows)
  • defining an eyebrow shape with colour to create a more substantial, thicker effect
  • lifting the brow using placement, shape and colour to give a refreshed appearance to the face

Treatment cost and top-ups

Our costs include the required top-up sessions to achieve the best results and to ensure the pigment adheres to your skin correctly and lasts for as long as possible. Treatment sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal fully.

Eyeliner, eyebrow and lip line treatments consist of two treatments, one initial and one top-up, 4 to 6 weeks after the initial treatment. Lip Blush and Full Lip Colour treatments include two treatments, and we will often give a further treatment session if required (subject to Candice’s approval). We will discuss the number of sessions needed at the first treatment appointment or consultation. The number of sessions depends on several factors, including your original lip skin colour and how the pigment implants.

License

We are micropigmentation specialists in Dubai and the Middle East and adhere to the highest health, safety, and hygiene standards, the same high standards as those on Harley Street London. Also, our procedures fully meet the Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Health regulations.

Aftercare – Semi Permanent Makeup FAQs

Semi permanent makeup treatments can irritate and swell the area where the pigment is applied. There may also be redness; however, this will subside very quickly. Normal activities may resume immediately following the procedure. You will be given aftercare instructions at your treatment appointment.

So-called “cheap procedures”

A warning about cheap treatments, “You get what you pay for”, is very well-suited to semi permanent makeup. Cheap treatments are often poorly performed using cheaper machines and pigments usually associated with body art tattoos. This often results in the horror stories we have heard about with pigments turning blue and green.

Cheaper Micropigmentation machines are not finely tuned and tear the skin causing unnecessary pain and discomfort. Cheaper systems may not need needle depth adjustment to implant pigments into the outer epidermis. This lack of depth control can cause the pigment to implant deeper in the skin resulting in a permanent tattoo.

Before you know it, the “great deal” has turned into a disaster requiring an extensive and expensive course of removals and cost to reapply. We say it is far easier to do your homework and research specialists to find the correct one to perform your treatment. For more information on our semi-permanent makeup treatments, removals or corrections, please email info@exclusiveaesthetic.com.
